Board-certified in Pulmonary and Internal Medicine, Dr. Floyd’s journey to Lyracore has been marked by a dedication to both academic excellence and compassionate healthcare. Before joining Lyracore, Dr. Floyd embarked on a multifaceted academic path, initially pursuing a Cancer Biology Ph.D. candidacy after completing his undergraduate studies at the University of South Florida. It was during this time that Dr. Floyd’s fascination with the intricacies of human biology and disease processes was ignited, laying the foundation for his future career in medicine.
Dr. Floyd knew a career in medicine was in his future from the young age of 6 when he broke his wrist and was treated by a caring and energetic medical team. After completing his medical education at Lake Erie College of Medicine in Bradenton, FL, Dr. Floyd’s early aspirations leaned toward a research career. However, a pivotal experience during his undergraduate years—where he shadowed more senior physicians—instilled in him a profound appreciation for the human side of medicine. This encounter, coupled with his growing passion for patient care, ultimately led Dr. Floyd to pursue a career in clinical medicine.
Following medical school, Dr. Floyd further honed his skills and knowledge by delving into the realm of Drug Discovery at Moffitt Cancer Center. This experience not only deepened his understanding of cutting-edge medical research but also reinforced his commitment to delivering the highest standard of care to his patients.
Dr. Floyd’s dedication to compassionate patient care and his commitment to staying at the forefront of medical advancements perfectly align with Lyracore’s values. His emphasis on transparent communication and collaboration within the healthcare team reflects our shared commitment to excellence in pulmonary care.
Outside of work, Dr. Floyd enjoys spending time outdoors and, particularly, off-shore saltwater fishing.
